Fat-soluble vitamin found in plant food sources (Phylloquinone ) or made back bacteria within the intestinal tract (Menaquinone).

Role in the human body
Vitamin K is essential for the synthesis of the biologically active forms of a range of proteins called vitamin K dependent proteins. Such proteins play important roles in bone health and blood clotting.

Where It Is Found
The best sources of vitamin K include green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and lettuce. Other sources are vegetable oils (soy, canola, olive), oats, potatoes, tomatoes, asparagus, butter, margarine, milk, carrots, corn and most fruits.
